The secretariat of the Arab country’s Awqaf Ministry in a statement said the final assessment process for the male participants began in the Grand Mosque in Kuwait City on Sunday and will run through Wednesday, KUNA reported.
The assessment of qualities of female contestants will start on November 4 and run for four days, Ma’rib Al-Yaqub, the representative of the ministry noted.
He said the number of contenders in the preliminary stage of this edition has surpassed 2,600.
They compete in different categories and various age groups, the official noted.
A new category that was added to the contest last year is the family category in which three members of each family compete with those from other families for the top prize, he stated.

The Grand Quran Award is annually organized in Kuwait under the supervision of the country’s Emir.
Launched in 1997, it is held with the motto al-Maknun, a word that comes in Surah Al-Waqi’ah: “It is indeed a Glorious Quran, in a Book protected (from tampering) which none shall touch except the purified.” (Verses 77-79)
